The Bean KingMy grandparents have been growing heirloom McCaslan beans for many years. My grandfather, Woody, was known as "The Bean King" in Lenoir, North Carolina.
At 75 years of age, he harvested 47 five-gallon buckets of McCaslan beans and was featured in the local newspaper (above). He is pictured 12 feet off the ground along a 50 foot wall of beans.
