Are you considering growing dill in your garden?  It's a good idea because dill (Anethum graveolens), an annual, is one of the easiest herbs to grow.

Mammoth and Bouquet are the two popular cultivars grown in the United States.  The branches have feathery blue-green foliage that can be harvested at any time.  Dill is very fragrant and best used when fresh.

It will add flavor to soups, dips, salads, butter, and fish.  It's a good source of calcium and contains minerals.  The seeds are used in pickling and can also add flavor to roasts, stews, and vegetables.  The flowers and seeds can be used in vinegars and oils.

Dill likes to be planted in cool weather and loves full sun.  It grows best in well-drained soil and is not particular about pH levels.  Once dill blooms, the plants stops producing foliage.

My Mammoth Dill grew over five feet tall this year.
