Botanical Interests is sponsoring this giveaway for a seed bank that includes open-pollinated heirloom varieties that have been around for fifty years or longer. Each variety in this collection will typically last 3-5 years if kept cool and dry.

A great gift idea for yourself or fellow gardeners who like the peace of mind that comes with having a survival stash of seeds on hand at all times for food security.

They also host interesting gardening blogs: In the Garden, Creative Inspirations, and Seed to Saucepan (chef featured articles).

I really like the art and info on the seed packets. We garden with about 60 kids at Boys and Girls Club in Montrose and these packets are what impacts the kids first and makes them want to spend the time to get the fruit or veggies grown (water weeded and not stepped on!)

I have grown some of these varieties but I don't know if the ones I grew were organic seeds. I always try to garden organically, composting everything. I know I love the Swiss Chard Fordhook Giant, I wish I could grow it all year long, which is not so easy in zone 5. If I won these it would benefit several families as I would only plant the seeds I need and share the rest.

I grew 20 different tomato heirlooms last year in the great tomato experiment of 2012. Not sure which one won but really fell in love with Wapsipinicon Peach. It's fuzzy, yellow with a blush tinge at the blossom end. Sweet and very nice in a salad or right out of hand.

My favorite heirloom? Well I have not had much opportunity to garden the past few decades however I am learning to garden in the Southwest high desert now. Every time I have had a garden it has seemed that all else failing I do well with good old green beans . I usually plant one of the common varieties. This coming year I am concentrating on only growing heirlooms. I expect I will have a bumper crop of delicious fresh off the vine heirloom beans this spring!

I love yellow pears tomatoes every year, bloomsdale spinach and toscano kale are awesome. Botanical Interests has been a favorite seed company too, since I found them a few years ago. I already liked botanical Interests on FB and just liked MLB'sG page.
My fav is the broccoli Di Cicco. My children really enjoyed eating and pulling the little finger carrots out of our garden last year!! As a first time gardener last year I planted a lot just in case. :) Started from seeds and everything grew so- much!! Filled my family all summer, my freezer, pantry, and all my friends and family members!! The best part... now I know for sure what's in my food and even better yet, what is not in/on it!

I just got this year's catalog in the mail today!! SO excited! My most favorite heirloom is the Contender bean. This great little contender was the only bean that I could grow in Gunnison's incredibly short growing season with chilly nights throughout the summer! We just moved to Loveland, so I am really excited to try all new varieties with nearly three times the length growing season!! Although I love my kohlrobi, cabbage, and beets; I am going to take advantage of the warmer climate to grow sugar pie pumpkins, many varieties of tomatoes, eggplant, and CUCUMBERS!!!! Unheard of in Gunni unless you start REALLY early and indoors (the last frost can be up to mid June and the first frost is always around September 1)!!!! I refuse to use twitter, but I have "liked" BI for a while now, and I have now discovered and "liked" your page! I will also share your page for my gardening FB friends!!

I've gone all-organic garden girl. I ordered a dozen of their boxed sets last year and more loose packets: Early-Spring Sowing, Mid-Spring, Late-Spring, Super Organic Vegetable Starter etc... but my favorite was the non-edible [to me] Butterfly Banquet. I've been determined to bring back beneficial insects and beautiful butterflies to our yard. So many neighbors use lawn-chemical companies, that good bugs and in turn birds, had no 'safe zones' so my yard will be one. Bontanical Interests goes out of their way to offer a top-quality product in beautifully illustrated packets with info booklets. My boxes were wrapped in green ribbon, like a pretty present in the mail. It's not as exciting ordering from other seed companies now. They spoil their customers! Hope they never change or go away :)

Hello there. I like all heirloom vegetables, but like tomatos the most. I tried gardening for first time spring 2012. Didn't know what the heck I was doing at times, but did manage to get 5 good buckets of tomatoes & 3 of lemon cucumbers. I did notice quite a difference between the heirloom vegetables that I started from seed & store bought hybrid seedlings from our local nursery/hardware store. Needless to say, heirloom seeds are definitely the way to go.

We love our tomatoes here in Southern New Jersey! We always get a Rutgers variety because my father went to college there. He is a master Gardener and I would love to surprise him with these wonderful seeds!
