Did you know radish seed pods are edible? I found this out by accident when a couple of my radishes bolted. I left them to flower in the garden where they grew to about four foot tall! Before I knew it they were covered in small seed pods.
Come to find out they are edible and very tasty, with a mild peppery flavor.
Some varieties, such as the Rat-tail radish, are bred just for the pods. These pods can grow eight inches in length, or more, and have better flavor. Could they be worthy of pickling?
My pods were small (as you can see below) but tasty. I sauteed them with olive oil and garlic. They are also said to be good in salads and as a crunchy snack.
Radishes are quick and easy to grow, and you can eat the roots, leaves, flowers, and seeds!
