Saving seeds is one of the easiest things you can do to save a few dollars. Pepper seeds are very easy to harvest and dry, and they are viable for two to three years.

Peppers are self-pollinating, but they can cross-pollinate by wind or by insects.  If you want peppers true to seed, grow one variety, or isolate sweet peppers by a fourth mile and hot peppers by one mile.  Use fully mature peppers to get the best seeds.  Most all peppers turn red when fully ripe.
